Description

Stainless Steel 430 is perhaps the most popular non-hardenable ferritic stainless steel available. It is known for good corrosion, heat, oxidation resistance, and its decorative nature. It is important to note that when well polished or buffed its corrosion resistance increases. All welding must occur at higher temperatures, but it is easily machined, bent, and formed. It has higher Chromium content compared to stainless steel grade 409. It is not as corrosion resistant as stainless steel grade 304 but as 304 is expensive, the alloy is a cost-effective alternative where cost factor matters more than product life. It is reasonable to expect specifications in these standards to be similar but not necessarily identical to those given in this data sheet.
