STAINLESS STEEL
AISI 347 | EN 1.4550
Description
Stainless Steel 347 is a austenitic chromium stainless steel. Usually found in applications that demand high temperature resistance. It has similar resistance and corrosion protection as stainless steel grade 304. It is used for heavy welded equipment when annealing is not possible.
ASTM 347 stainless steel is a stabilized austenitic stainless steel that contains niobium, which enhances its corrosion resistance and high-temperature strength. Niobium forms carbides with carbon, which prevents the formation of chromium carbide and protects the grain boundaries from intergranular corrosion. The addition of niobium also improves the steel's resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.
The alloy showcases good oxidation resistance, on par with most other austenitic stainless steels like 304, 316, 317L, and 321. It is reasonable to expect specifications in these standards to be similar but not necessarily identical to those given in this data sheet.
