STAINLESS STEEL

AISI 309S | EN 1.4833

Description

309S stainless steel is a low carbon version of Type 309. Because of its lower carbon-content, the alloy minimizes carbide precipitation, and improves weldability. It can be easily roll formed, stamped and drawn. The grade has higher resistance to marine atmospheres than 304. The alloy also showcases outstanding resistance to oxidation. It is reasonable to expect specifications in these standards to be similar but not necessarily identical to those given in this data sheet.

Applications of 309S

  • Oven linings
  • Boiler baffles
  • Fire box sheets
  • Furnace components
  • Other high temperature containers
  • Chemical processing equipment such as tanks and pipes that come into contact with corrosive substances
  • Petrochemical equipment for oil and gas exploration and production
  • Energy industry equipment such as boilers, turbines, and power transmission components
  • Furnace manufacturing, including heating elements and thermocouple tubes
  • Aerospace components such as aircraft engine parts
  • Medical equipment such as surgical instruments and implants
  • Nuclear industry for nuclear reactors, fuel assemblies, and other critical components due to their high-temperature resistance and strength
  • Pharmaceutical industry for manufacturing equipment such as mixing vessels, tanks, and pipes due to their high resistance to corrosion
