STAINLESS STEEL
AISI 2205 | EN 1.4462
Description
Raykam Duplex 2205 stainless steel contains a dual microstructure: ferrite and austenite. It is used extensively used in corrosion resistance and high strength applications. This grade offers higher resistance to corrosion compared to the single microstructure stainless steel types like Austenite, Ferrite, Martensite, Pearlite, etc. This grade is not suitable for extreme temperature above 300°C and -50°C. Above 300°C, the steel's micro-constituents undergo precipitation and below -50°C, the steel's microstructure undergo a transition from ductile to brittle.
This grade exhibits excellent corrosion resistance and better strength limits, which is much higher than that of grade 316 from Austenite series. It strongly resists localized corrosion types like intergranular, crevice and pitting on exposure to highly reactive environments like strong Acidic and Alkaline chemicals, Chloride Salts, etc. The resistance to Chlorine based compounds makes it a suitable option for Off Shore Marine applications.
